I Love Fridays!!

March 21, 2013 in Company Crush, Gifts, Supporting Small Businesses

Fridays…we all love them don’t we? My Friday excitement has escalated in recent weeks though since Maria from www.feistytapas.com introduced me to a gorgeous website – Dots and Spots.

Dots and Spots is the home of the extremely talented Becky who cuts and tears papers to create beautiful collages and in turn cards, wrapping paper, tapes, notebooks, paper bags, mugs…the list goes on.
So why the Friday excitement? Well every Friday Becky runs 50% Friday where she chooses a different selection of products each week to reduce by 50% for 24 hours only!
my first order
I placed my first order a couple of weeks ago and I am hugely impressed and massively in love with the products. What’s more if you spend over £20 you get FREE delivery. I ordered on the Friday and the free delivery parcel arrived on the Wednesday, I was really pleased with that!
I’ve since introduced Mum to Dots and Spots and she’s now had her first order too and thrilled with it!
Of course you don’t have to wait until 50% Friday to order but it’s always exciting to find out what treats Becky has in store for us.
I am reliably informed that tomorrow is for camper van fans!
So there you go, that’s why I’m even more in love with Fridays these days! Don’t tell hubby though or he might hide my purse!
I just wanted to share this gorgeous company with you. 😀

Bunting Design Oilcloth Cushion from Alana J Design

September 5, 2012 in Company Crush, Gifts, Home & Garden, Maternity, Supporting Small Businesses

Don’t you just love discovering new companies? I love that feeling of finding a new company, with great products that you just can’t help but fall in love with. Yes I’ve used the word love three times in two sentences but today it feels appropriate.

I recently discovered Alana J Design who specialise in handmade gifts for the home….and you guessed it I fell in love!
Alana J Design started off by creating handmade pillowcases for v pillows (a great gift for Mums-to-be) seeing a gap in the market for stylish designs rather than the plain, uninspiring ones that were previously available. From there they have moved on to creating gorgeous bunting and other types of cushions.
I was lucky enough to be sent one of their Oilcloth Garden Cushions and I was extremely impressed with what I saw!
The cushion arrived beautifully packaged. I think you can tell a lot about a company with how they present their products. Alana J Design clearly take a lot of pride in their work and my cushion arrived carefully wrapped in purple tissue paper with a sachet of lavender included. This is not just any lavender sachet though it’s from a Lavender Farm local to Alana J Design – another huge tick from me, supporting local businesses and so lovely and fresh! I actually have it hanging in the living room at the moment as I just love the smell. Such a great touch and I like that it has a personal edge too, a great idea.
As for the cushion itself, well I had high hopes after seeing how lovingly it had been wrapped and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. The bunting design cushion epitomises quality. It measures 14″ x 14″ and is filled with a slightly larger cushion pad meaning that it is fully filled out. It really is very comfortable – in fact it’s comfy to sit on as well as to lean against.  The oilcloth fabric itself is gorgeous and feels durable and hard wearing. You can tell this cushion has been lovingly made as each and every stitch is perfect!
One thing I really like about this cushion is that fact that it is wipe clean. I’ve been looking for cushions for my garden furniture for a while now and was struggling to find something that met all my requirements, but this is perfect. In fact this cushion would be great for family picnics – comfy to sit on, easy to clean and a beautiful design too. I know that when my friend’s kids come round this will be the cushion I let them use as I won’t need to worry about a “sticky finger attack”!
I could go on and on about this beautiful cushion but there’s really just one final point I’d like to make. This cushion retails for just £10. Now I’ve been looking at mass produced cushions for the garden for a while now and I can tell you this handmade cushion blows them out the water in terms of value, quality and of course its beautiful design.
I’ve now got my eye on a few of the other products on the Alana J Design website. I know for a fact that my sister would love this Cath Kidston handmade V pillowcase….
….and anyone who knows me will tell you that this Sheep Bunting has my name written all over it!
Sometimes when I write a review I want to find something negative to “prove” that it is an honest review. I’ve been sat here trying to think of anything, anything at all slightly negative to say about this cushion but you’ve guessed it, I can’t think of one single thing. I’m just so impressed with the quality, price and overall design. I really love it!
Alana J Design tell me that they will be running a competition every month over on Facebook, so be sure to pop over and like their page so that you don’t miss out!
So there you have it, my latest company crush. I’m in love!
A sample cushion was received for consideration. This has in no way affected my opinion of the product and as always my review is 100% honest.

Never Forget Review and *Giveaway*

February 16, 2011 in Baby and Toddler, Closed Giveaways, Company Crush, Gifts

I don’t know if it’s just me, but there seems to be new babies everywhere at the moment. If not new born then announcements of pregnancies. So for the past few months I’ve been trying to stock up on gifts so that when all the babies arrive we wont be totally skint!

I always like to buy gifts that are either going to be useful or are going to have some kind of meaning behind them, and even better if I can combine the two.

I recently discovered a fantastic website called Never Forget.  They have an impressive range of personalised gifts for all the family no matter what the occasion. I was therefore delighted to be sent a gorgeous Blue Hippo Striped baby comforter with my chosen personalisation of “Cuddle Me” to review.

The hippo (which I’ve named Harry) is absolutely gorgeous! He is incredibly soft and cuddly and very well made. He has a lovely long tail with five ribbon taggies – a fantastic way to help promote hand-eye coordination in the lucky recipient. As you’d expect being a product for young children he is also machine washable in preparation for any minor mishaps!

As with a lot of the products on Never Forget I was given the opportunity to personalise the comforter with whatever I wanted and in a choice of threads and fonts. I chose the phrase “Cuddle Me” but you could easily pick a child’s name, date of birth, anything you want really that fits into the space (up to a maximum of 90 characters). The result is a high quality, truly unique gift that hasn’t cost you the earth (personalisation of the comforters is £2.50).

Personalised Face Cloth – £3.00
It’s not just baby products either, there is a huge range of potential gifts available on the website, from personalised hand towels to personalised suit covers and bunting to personalised t-shirts. One of the most impressive things about this site for me is that their minimum order number is one, so if you have been looking for a personalised t-shirt then you don’t need to buy in bulk you just pay the price of the t-shirt plus £2.50 for personalisation! Oh and delivery in the UK is absolutely free (launched today) – another huge bonus I think you will agree.
I’m really impressed with this website and the quality of the comforter I received. The personalised comforter makes for a great new baby gift, adding a unique edge that I think shows you really care.
The lovely people at Never Forget have offered two of my readers the chance to win a gorgeous baby comforter from a choice of the following – Blue Elephant, Blue Teddy, Cute Frog and Pink Bunny.
