Summer Shoes – Birkenstocks

May 12, 2014 in Bloggers, Clothes & Fashion, Clothing

Last month (I think it was last month, I’ve totally lost track of time) I was lucky enough to win a giveaway run by the fantastic Bundle. If you’re a blogger then hopefully you will have heard of Bundle and signed up too. They are an online community for Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle bloggers. They also have a dedicated section for Young Bloggers … clearly I’m not in that category.

They launched in March and basically it’s somewhere you can connect and share with fellow bloggers. It’s like a social network site for bloggers with some forums thrown in too. I’m not very good at explaining so it’s probably best if you pop over and have a look yourself! Feel free to add me as a friend when you sign up. (You should be able to click the image below to find me).

Anyway to mark their launch they teamed up with MasterShoe MyShu to offer Bundle members the chance to win a pair of shoes of their choice up to the value of £100! My name was pulled out of the virtual hat meaning I got to choose myself a new pair of shoes!

It was actually a harder decision than you’d think as MasterShoe MyShu have such a huge range of styles and brands. I contemplated a pair of Converse All Stars canvas shoes, then I wondered about some Hunter Originals wellies. In the end I decided to go for something for summer…yes that probably should have meant the wellies…. and opted for my first pair of Birkenstocks.

I have to tell you that I absolutely love these sandals. They are so comfortable and fit really well. I am generally between a UK 3 & UK 4 so after reading some reviews online I went for the smaller UK 3 and they are perfect!

Obviously this was a prize so I can’t really tell you much about ordering with MasterShoe MyShu,  but I can tell you that they were in touch with me to keep me informed, as well as to give me the tracking information for my parcel…plus my shoes arrived really quickly!

I genuinely hadn’t heard of MasterShoe MyShu before Bundle introduced me, but I’ll definitely be going back there when I want new shoes…maybe I’ll even treat myself to those Hunter wellies some time.

So if the sun fails to shine this summer it’s entirely my fault for choosing sandals over wellies, sorry guys! I took a couple of photos of me wearing my shoes but since I personally hate feet I couldn’t bring myself to post a picture of my feet on the blog. My feet phobia is probably a post for another day though!

Birkenstock

Thanks so much Bundle and MasterShoe MyShu for my Birkenstocks, I love them! Remember if you are a blogger to go and check out Bundle… and if you’re a shoe fan MasterShoe MyShu is definitely worth visiting.

Have a lovely week!

Oh and Bundle (@BundleMag) have a chat on Twitter #BundleChat every Monday night at 7pm, feel free to join in!

As always there are no affiliate links in this post. Thanks to Bundle and MasterShoe MyShu for my gorgeous prize.

What Do The Colours You Wear Say About You?

April 24, 2014 in Clothes & Fashion, Clothing, Kirsty Beauty

When it comes to fashion, I’m not as adventurous with colour as I perhaps should be – I (Kirsty) usually keep that to lipsticks! Saying that, when I venture out of my comfort zone I do get a strange buzz of excitement (sad but true). I’ve definitely been doing this a lot more recently and I would say it’s thanks to that wee yellow thing in the sky that’s been coming out to say hello recently. My colour preferences are always based on season, my hair colour and celebrities. The last two go hand in hand as I can be found searching online for images of the likes of Emma Stone, Karen Gillan and Christina Hendricks before investing in a statement outfit and I also usually seeking close/honest friends’ advice. I’ve never really thought about how colour could show my personality and mood but thanks to New Look I now have a lot more understanding.

green

There’s no description for green. I think it makes me feel more Celtic! Oh and Christina Hendricks wears lots of green!

They have created a new feature which conveys the hidden meaning behind people’s choice of colour which is so interesting and makes you really think about past outfits you’ve worn to different occasions. In addition to this, it also very handily suggests the correct shades for your skintone/hair colour as well as how to pull them off!

Colour and Mood by New Look

Thankfully I’ve been going for the right shades but I think this has just been from advice in the past. I recently wore a yellow for the first time in my life in the form of a dress to a wedding and when I came down the stairs and my friend said I looked like sunshine.

yellow

Perhaps that was an exaggeration but the colour definitely helped lift my mood enormously. New Look describe it as ‘boundless joy and a determination to shine’ – even that description made me smile.

purple

“make you look and feel assertive”

If I’m perfectly honest, the majority of my wardrobe is black and navy due the flattering nature. I do involve splashes of colour and I’m notorious for my over usage of floral but I am enjoying wearing a wee statement from time to time and I realise I stand out/get more compliments when I do. I’ll definitely be continuing this and using the New Look Colour and Mood to help me pick things to suit me and my attitude. I’d really like to get something coral in my life which apparently is pro-active and trustworthy, at work or with friends. Lord knows I could do with a bit of pro-activity. I am the queen of procrastination!

“Deeper, warmer shades are romantic and passionate” Oh I say…

What colours do you wear and what do they say about you?

We were not compensated in any way for this post, we just thought it was interesting.

A Spring Wardrobe?

February 5, 2014 in Clothes & Fashion, Clothing

I was listening to Ken Bruce this morning, as I do every morning. Today he was talking about the weather and how at the moment it’s hard to believe that spring will ever arrive! I have to say I thoroughly agree with him. If it wasn’t for the fact that there are bulbs coming through in the front garden I don’t think I’d believe that spring is on the horizon.

We did some clearing out of old clothes for the charity shop the other day. It seemed like a really good idea at the time but now I think about it I’ve got rid of a lot of “summer” clothes… probably because it was peeing down outside at the time and I couldn’t believe the sun would ever return! I’m hoping that by throwing out a lot of my lighter clothing it means that the summer will be particularly nice this year…wishful thinking!

We have a rule whereby if you buy a new item of clothing you get rid of one too, to charity (if it’s in decent condition). My friend has the same rule but hers is one item in, two items out! So last week a new top arrived in the house, a nice spring/summer top, a gift from my lovely Mummy. It’s this top that I wanted to share with you today because really I LOVE it!

new top

I have to be honest and say that until a month ago I hadn’t heard of Mantaray, but since I discovered them I’ve seen loads of gorgeous items! This top is their Pale Green Deer Patterned Top and I absolutely love it. The print is beautiful, it’s very “me” with squirrels, deer, birds and trees. The top itself is a really nice design with attention to detail, particularly round the sleeves.

I am totally in love with it! It’s not often I feel this way about an item of clothing…unless it is my PJs! I feel like I now have a top suitable for spring, so please Spring do come and visit this year!

Thanks again Mum! Tha gaol agam ort. xx

I just wanted to share this beautiful top with you…and to thank my Mum!

Feel Fantastic with Global Maternity

January 18, 2011 in Clothes & Fashion, Clothing, Gifts, Maternity

In a time when the country is in recession I have the greatest respect for those who have bitten the bullet and started a new business. Louise Boyes is one such person. She launched her Global Maternity site in February 2010 and wow, she has made a great job of it!

Having read an article by Louise on how she started her new business (you can read it here) I visited her website and was seriously impressed! Global Maternity hosts a fantastic selection of maternity clothes, meaning that you needn’t sacrifice your style when you become pregnant, you can actually embrace it and treat yourself to some new items.
There is a fantastic range of clothes available from yoga pants to gorgeous dresses and maternity socks to knitwear, meaning there’s something for everyone. The site also features some great international designers such as Noppies, Boob Maternity, Hotmilk, Crave Maternity and Emma Jane Maternity.
The website itself has a lovely feel to it, it’s so professional and is a much nicer site than many that have been around for much longer. I was immediately struck by how easy it is to navigate and how great the product images are, as well as the effectiveness of the search function. I get really annoyed when I visit sites that have a search function, only to find they are completely useless – no such problem here.
My guest reviewer, Liz, is five months pregnant with her second child and was sent two gorgeous garments to test and review – the Noppies Blouse Fano in white and the Noppies Maternity Cardigan in cassis.
 Here are her thoughts:
“Finally, maternity clothes that don’t make you look like a clown, give you room in all the right places, can be used for all sorts of occasions and aren’t black or blue. As this is my second pregnancy I retrieved my maternity wardrobe from the back of the loft and was, frankly, uninspired. I certainly don’t have the money to spend on buying lots of new clothes and so was looking forward to spending the next few months in the most boring clothes known to man.
The package from Global Maternity arrived much to my one-year-old son’s delight as he seems to like all things pink at the moment (a story for another time perhaps) and unwrapping the clothes certainly gave him as much pleasure as it did me!
Both tops are extremely versatile, working together and separately. Put with jeans they make a great casual outfit and with smart(ish) boots it’s ideal for the (very occasional) night out my husband and I manage to fit in. With smart trousers or skirt it’s ideal for the office but my favourite combination is the pink cardigan with black dress that has served as a christening and 60th birthday party outfit already.
The tops are both fantastic quality and accurately reflect the descriptions on the website. They are both so comfortable that I can play with my son and roll around on the floor without any worries.
I’m delighted to have found a company with such a great range of good quality clothes.  These really are a must-have for every maternity wardrobe and have certainly proved that you can look feminine and in control whilst feeling like matchsticks are holding open your eyes and you’re ten stone heavier!”
Both the Noppies Maternity Cardigan and the Noppies Blouse Fano are available for £36.99 on the Global Maternity website.
At the time of writing you can get 20% off all products on the Global Maternity website. A great opportunity to buy yourself some quality clothes that will keep you feeling great throughout this pregnancy and, dare I say it, any more in the future too!
You can keep up with all of the Global Maternity news and offers on http://www.globalmaternity.com/Facebook, Twitter (@globalmaternity) and also their blog.
Two items of clothing were received for consideration. All views expressed in this post are our own. We did not receive any other reward, financial or otherwise for this post.
