Project B Box 6

September 26, 2014 in Gifts, Maternity, Services

The lovely people at Project B kindly sent me my fourth box this month. I’ve been really impressed with the other boxes I’ve received so I couldn’t wait to see what was in this box, the last box before baby arrives!

For those of you that might not be familiar with Project B they are a subscription box service for pregnant ladies. They offer 7 boxes to see you through from 12 weeks right up to baby’s arrival. Retailing at £14/month, the value of the box often far exceeds the price you pay.

This month’s box, box 6, correlates to month 9 of pregnancy and has the theme ‘Nest’……

Box 6
Eco2Life Cleaning Spray and Refill – Brilliant! You receive an empty spray bottle and little bottle of magic formula which is environmentally more friendly for bath and shower cleaning.

Weleda Calendula Lotion – For baby and adults. It is easily absorbed and free of the bad stuff. Lovely!

NO GERMS Instant Hand Sanitiser – Love it. Pop it in the change bag and it’s there when needed.

Yes! Nurse’s Hand Formula – I love this and it’s made a huge difference to my very dry hands. Just totting up how many times you wash your hands with 2 young children on a morning is astonishing – no wonder my skin is dry as anything!

2

Spontex Washups – A couple of  handy sponge scourers.

The Pampered Chef Microfiber Towel – Very soft and absorbent.

3

As with the other boxes, there are also four really useful fact sheets.

I have to say that this box really does fulfill the “nest” theme. Everything in the box is relevant and useful and I really like that. My only wish was that there was a little chocolate treat in there too :-)

Thank you to Project B for sending this box to Liz. All opinions expressed are completely our own and, as always, entirely honest. As always there are no affiliate links in the post.

My First Memebox

August 26, 2014 in Health & Beauty, Make Up, Services, What We're Loving

Let me firstly say, I know people have been reviewing these a lot lately, however I purchased this Memebox myself…and have another making its way from Korea as I type. All opinions are completely my own and I just wanted to share this with you.

Ok, now that’s out the way…. welcome to our August edition of What We’re Loving! This month I (Rhoda) am absolutely loving Memebox! Memebox is a Korean beauty box service. It’s not a subscription service as such, they release new boxes frequently and you pop over to their website to order whatever you like the look of.

BOX

I was first introduced to Memebox a wee while ago by Coffee Break With Dani (over on YouTube) who does Memebox unboxings. From the first time I saw her unboxing I wanted to get my hands on one of these boxes, but I wasn’t sure how it would work being shipped over here. I really didn’t want to be slapped with a big customs charge when it arrived. So I patiently held off until I found some other UK bloggers who had ordered Memeboxes with no problems and so I plunged in with my first order.

Having seen various reviews online I decided to opt for the Hair & Body 2 box. The box itself cost $23 (£13.88) and standard shipping is $6.99 (£4.22) although this box had free upgrade to express delivery, and wow was it quick!!!

I used a combination of Meme Points & a coupon code to bring the total price in at $14.99 (£9.04). A MASSIVE bargain! In fact it’s a massive bargain at the standard price, but it’s worth a wee look about for any coupon codes prior to ordering.

I also nabbed one of their secret deals so I was sent a free 45ml DrG Brighening Balm in Super Light which actually retails on the site for $25! Seriously, I cannot believe how much stuff I got for £9!

Ok, I’ll stop rambling. Here’s what came in the box….

inside box

…jam packed full of goodies!! You also get a wee card that tells you what everything is, how to use it and how much it retails for. Don’t lose the card as in some cases it’s the only English instructions.

foot

Kocostar Foot Therapy 40ml ($9) Ok I confess it was this item that really made me choose this box. These are basically a wee pair of socks you put on for about 1.5hours. They have gel inside & feel really tingly on the feet. Rinse off the gel and about 4 days later you’ll notice the skin coming off, yeup coming off, your feet! It should be disgusting, but it’s pretty awesome. My feet are unbelievably soft now and I seriously love this foot wrap! I’d just advise you not to do it if you’re going to be sandals in about 4 days time, not a good look!

shower

Evas Cosmetics Body Net 7Days Project 200ml ($6) Sticking with the body, I’ve been using this shower gel for a while. There were 7 different scents available and I got the Deep Sea Water. It’s nice.

cream

Label Young Shocking Holjjuki 100ml ($21) This stuff scares me. It’s a one-step body slimming cream. You apply it where you want a slimming effect and it, well, slims it. It heats up though so you need to be careful not to use too much. Honestly, I’ve used this once and I was too scared to put much on, so I can’t give you an opinion on this. I need to be brave and give it another go.

nails

Vidanail Lvida Lavender Oil 10ml ($10) I really like this lavender oil. It helps the nails, is easy to apply and looks so cute. Look at the bits of lavender in it!!! >>

nails2

Moving on…

hair

Hello Everybody Spa Vita Berry Shampoo & Treatment 30ml (Full sized product: 220ml ($38)) I LOVE the smell of these! I was going to save them for trips away but the smell was too good, I had to try them. I’ve been using these once a week/10 days to help give my hair a vitamin boost. I don’t think my hair could handle more than that so these should last a wee while.

hair2

Boutique Bebe Hair Salon Argan Oil Essence 60ml ($31) Apart from the bizarrely brilliant foot wraps this is my favourite item in the box. I just apply a little with my fingers and it gives my hair a nice, natural looking shine. It was great on the ends of my hair just before I got it cut, really helped my hair look and feel more presentable!

So that’s the contents of my Hair & Body 2 Box, worth $77, or $81 factoring in the sample sized hair goodies!

I mentioned that I bagged one of their secret deals. This meant I was sent this DrG BB cream for free..

freebie

So all-in-all by applying my memepoints and a discount code, I received $106 (£63.93) worth of products for just $14.99 (£9.04)!!

I’m delighted with this box. I didn’t incur any customs charges which was great. I believe that’s because it cost less than £15? Anyway, I love this box so much that I’ve already ordered my next one. I’m even more excited about it as it’s the Collab With Coffee Break With Dani box!

One final tip… if you see a box you fancy and it’s in stock GO FOR IT! They sell out really, really quickly.

Have you tried Memebox? What’s your favourite product so far?

As mentioned above, I bought this Memebox myself and just wanted to share it with you! All opinions expressed are my own and completely honest. As always there are no affiliate links in this post

Project B Box 5

August 23, 2014 in Gifts, Maternity, Services

I (Liz) couldn’t believe it when another fabulous Project B Pregnancy Box arrived through my door recently. I’ve been very impressed with the other two boxes I’ve received  (if you missed those posts you can find them here and here).

For those of you that might not be familiar with Project B they are a subscription box service for pregnant ladies. They offer 7 boxes to see you through from 12 weeks right up to baby’s arrival. Retailing at £14/month, the value of the box often far exceeds the price you pay.

This month’s box is box 5, which correlates to month 8 (30-34 weeks). So let’s have a wee look at what arrived in the box…

box 8

Nurture breast Pads – Perfect for the hospital and individually wrapped. Retails at £4.99 for a pack of 40.

Weleda Citrus Hydrating Body Lotion – A little treat to celebrate Project B’s first birthday. Retails for £13.95.

Deep Freeze Pain Relief Cold Patch – Wow! Pain relief that can be used in pregnancy to ease those back pains. Fantastic! Retails at approx. £5.69 for 4 pack.

box 8_4

Divine Milk Chocolate Caramel Bar – Whoever came up with the idea of including chocolate in every pack deserves a pay rise. Plus it’s fairtrade and not for sharing with others. Retails for approx. £1.

Floradix Liquid Iron Formula – Certainly helps with the vitamin intake. A great, sample sized addition to the box.

Pukka Tea Bags – ‘three ginger’, ‘cleanse’ and ‘three mint’ teas.

Benecos Natural Lipgloss and Nail Polish – Little, natural treats to make mum feel slightly less like a farm animal. Both retail for £6.95 each.

box 8_3

Laboraide Twin Pack – ‘A new, innovative natural birthing device…to be used during both first and second stages of labour’. It’s a dental support device designed to naturally relieve pain. I’m willing to give anything a go! Twin Pack retails for £19.99.

Nursing Oil, Weleda – Apparently this should stimulate milk production. Sounds good as I’ve never been good at breast feeding.  Retails for £7.95.

TENA Lights  – Always welcome in pregnancy.

Femfresh Intimate Wipes – Great for popping in your handbag. Retails for £1.59.

box 8_2

Finally you get the very useful fact sheets. This month’s are baby in month eight,  What to take to the hospital (very useful), Swimming and aqua natal and Salmon with pine nuts and lime recipe.

I’m really impressed with this box. I tried to include prices for as many products as possible and as you can see the contents of box 5 far exceed the £14 that you pay for the box. Fantastic!

Thank you to Project B for sending this box to Liz for consideration. All opinions expressed are completely our own and, as always, entirely honest. As always there are no affiliate links in the post.

Project B Box 4

July 24, 2014 in Gifts, Maternity, Services

A fantastic surprise turned up recently, another gorgeous Project B pregnancy box! This one is aimed at 25-29 weeks and was hugely appreciated when it came through the door. If you missed my (Liz) post about the previous box, weeks 20-24, you can find it here.

Project B is a subscription box service for pregnant ladies. They offer 7 boxes to see you through from 12 weeks to baby’s arrival and at £14 a month they are definitely a bargain as the contents often far exceed that value.

So what did I get in my latest box?

box

St Eval Candle Company Tranquility Scented Tin. This is gorgeous and doesn’t half make you relax after a busy day. (RRP £9)

A couple of sachets of bio-oil which put off having to buy more for a couple of days more. (samples, RRP £8.99 for 60ml)

BLOOM heartwarming Rooibos Tea (pack of 20) and taste pretty good. (RRP £2.95 for 10)

Pregnancy Relaxation CD giftcard worth £10 to help you feel not quite so scared of labour!

Balm Balm Rose Geranium Face Balm which is a very luxurious moisturiser designed for everything. (RRP £6.99)

Weleda Firming Day Cream (7ml sample) (RRP £23.95 for 30ml)

Eisberg

Eisberg Alcohol-free wine (Rose). (RRP £2.75)  Truthfully I was expecting this to be awful but it was actually pretty good. Although it does definitely lack alcohol it’s about as good as a pregnant woman can hope for!

leaflet

And of course their fantastic leaflets with advice, ideas and general information.

This was such a brilliant box with some really high quality products. Again, I’m really impressed and feel nice and pampered!

Bonjour French Food Review

July 10, 2014 in Food and Drink, Gifts, Services

Back in April we posted a round-up of subscription boxes, if you missed it you can find it here. Our pick of the food subscription boxes on offer was Bonjour French Food, a subscription service who specialise in delivering Gourmet French products to your door. The lovely folk at Bonjour French Food sent us a box last month so that we could try out their service for ourselves. We were very impressed!

Bonjour French Food

I (Rhoda) have to admit I was really excited when the box arrived. I couldn’t wait to see what was in it, to be transported by taste back to my childhood holidays in France.

opening the box

Upon opening the box I found a wee sheet with information on all the products, as well as suggestions on how to get the most out of your taste experience. There is usually a magazine in the box with this information but there was a mishap with the printing service. Absolutely no problem for me, the sheet tells you everything you need to know!

sneak peek

Digging under the packaging (everything was well packaged and arrived in one piece) I got my first peek of the contents, two madeleines peeking back at me put a smile on my face!

the contents

It took great restraint to take these photos before unwrapping the tissue paper!

amazing

Everything in the box looked absolutely amazing, a fantastic combination. The June selection was chosen with an outdoor lunch in mind, and I think they nailed it! So what was in the box? Well here’s an English translation..

Artichoke Cream with Black Truffle

Red Pepper Cream

Countryside Terrine

Duck Terrine with Cep Mushroom & Ginger

Apple & Caramel Compote

Almond & Elderflower Navettes

Madeleines

I decided that this selection was far too exciting just to keep to myself so we took the products when we went to stay with the in-laws and everyone loved getting in on the tasting!

sampling

terrine tasting

Everyone had their own favourites; personally I loved the terrines. I was slightly nervous before opening the tin as I’m not a fan of really chunky terrines. However although I wouldn’t describe this terrine as smooth, it absolutely melted in the mouth. You really could taste the quality. As I’d hoped, the taste transported me back to my youth, sitting on a picnic rug just off a country lane in Normandy with my family, armed with a baguette and terrine.

We were all really impressed with this box. It was such a lovely treat and would make a fantastic gift for the foodie or Francophile in your life. Or you could of course treat yourself to a monthly gourmet trip to France from the comfort of your own home.

The box we received was the Monthly Surprise Box which costs £29/month including P&P. Or you can try a one-off for £32. As well as the Monthly Surprise Box, Bonjour French Food have introduced two other boxes that you can purchase at any time, the Charcuterie Hamper (£27) and the Veggie Hamper (£29).

Overall, I really love this concept. Bonjour French Food really captured and delivered a taste of France to my door. The products were all luxurious and of a very high quality. I will definitely be keeping this company in mind for gifts, it’s something really different and a real treat.

For more information on Bonjour French Food visit their website.
