Illumicrate #8: Unboxing

August 29, 2017 in Bookish Posts, Illumicrate, Unboxings

I keep hoping to get back to regular posting; I’m working on it and I really appreciate you sticking with me in the meantime. Thank you! I received my August Illumicrate box last week so thought I’d share it with you. If you aren’t familiar with Illumicrate, it’s a quarterly book box subscription service. Four times a year their signature white and yellow box arrives on your doorstep to brighten up your day.

In fact, Daphne is also curating a one-off Grisha edition box which is on sale now. If you’d like to see what arrived in previous boxes just click here.

As always, I’m going to pop the unboxing in a spoiler section below. So if you don’t want to know what arrived in the box don’t click below!

Once again Daphne has done an incredible job with this box. If you’d like to sign up to Illumicrate for the November box then check out their website. Also, remember the Grisha edition is a one-off so even if you are a subscriber you need to order this separately!

Did you get the August Illumicrate?

What are your thoughts on the box?

Illumicrate #7: Unboxing

July 1, 2017 in Bookish Posts, Illumicrate, Unboxings

Life has been pretty tough lately so I apologise for the lack of posts. I do have some great books to tell you about so hopefully I’ll be back on track again soon. In the meantime, here is my very delayed Illumicrate unboxing. If you want to check out what came in previous boxes just click here.

We were told in advance on social media that this box would have TWO books – which I actually completely forgot until I opened the box!

I’m not going to bother with a spoiler section as this post is SO late, but obviously, if you don’t want to know what was in the box stop reading now!

spoiler card

This quarter’s box was packed to the brim. I really love this map bookmark exclusively handmade by Penguin Co.

It’s actually so pretty that I’m too scared to use it! Plus, I do love a good map. I’m now very tempted by their other designs in their Etsy shop.

I’ve had this keyring on my house keys since the box arrived.

keyring

This Harry Potter themed keychain is from Nutmeg and Arlo and I believe the blue colour is exclusive to Illumicrate.

I instantly fell in love with this door hanger and print from TJ Lubrano which is, again, exclusive to Illumicrate.

In fact, the print is now framed and on my bedroom wall.

I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a Flickerink candle for a while now so needless to say I was delighted to find this Mermaid Lagoon candle in the box.

It has a lovely tropical scent, but I haven’t yet tried burning it.

In celebration of Sarah J Maas’ ACOTAR series, Merwild created the Feyre artwork for this mug.

I love how she has incorporated the colours from all three of the books.

Onto the book – Truth or Dare by Non Pratt.

In fact, it’s a SIGNED copy…

…which arrived with a letter from the author!

I said there were two books. Well, the second book was an ARC of The Waking Land by Callie Bates, along with an author letter.

ARC

My post is so delayed that you can, in actual fact, get your hands on the finished article now.

As ever Daphne included some extra goodies in the box.

What a box, eh?

I’m so pleased with it and also very happy that there’s now not too long to wait for the next box!

Daphne shared with us that the August box will include an exclusive Illumicrate edition of a book where “girl power reigns in this story of a true icon” AND we will get it pre-publication. I suspect I know what book it is and I AM SO EXCITED!! Make sure you order your August box so you don’t miss out. Check out the Illumicrate website for all of the information.

Did you get this Illumicrate box? What did you think?

Will you be ordering the August box?

Bookworm Candles & Crafts March Box

April 11, 2017 in Bookish Candles, Bookish Posts, Unboxings

Back in February. I purchased a couple of bookish candles from Bookworm Candles and Crafts for my sister-in-law’s birthday. As soon as they arrived, I must admit I was pretty jealous and wanted to keep them for myself! Obviously, I gave them to her, but as soon as the opportunity arose I placed an order for myself too!

I was really impressed by Danielle’s attention to detail in the candles I ordered, so when I saw her March box was to be an ACOTAR theme, “I Love You, Thorns And All” needless to say I couldn’t resist.

So, I thought I’d share the box with you. Fair warning though, I couldn’t figure out how to change the settings back on the camera after my husband had been photographing the Aurora Borealis, so these are taken with a phone.

The box came well wrapped and protected. Had this yellow tissue paper been the entire wrapping I’d have been very pleased.

However, under the tissue paper was I found this!

Just look at that attention to detail!

It seemed such a shame to open this box, but open it I did and it was full of goodies ALL handmade by Danielle herself.

first look

First of all, I unwrapped this stunning Rhysand candle.

It smells incredible and quite honestly I’m rationing it as I love it so much. With every candle Danielle adds a crocheted touch using wool specially selected to match the scent – once again, that attention to detail!

I wish I had a better photo of this rose lip balm.

It is lightly topped with glitter and the balm itself is lovely.

Continuing with the rose scent, we received rose bath salts.

I haven’t used them yet but I’m so excited to, I love bath salts!

This Rhysand quote mirror is a really cute addition to the box.

As is this charm bracelet (sorry again for the poor quality photo).

Finally, possibly my favourite item – the Spring Court candle!

It really does smell like spring flowers, and look at the finish of the candle!

I can’t emphasise enough how impressed I am with Danielle’s work. She goes the extra mile to ensure that all of her items are special.

Bookworm Candles and Crafts have recently launched their new website. If you pop over you’ll be able to get your hands on the April, May and June boxes – the themes sound fantastic! There are just a few April boxes left though – Hunger Games fans, you might want to check this one out!

I’m so pleased with my box, it was such a special experience – a true treat.

January Fairyloot Unboxing

February 2, 2017 in Bookish Posts, Fairyloot, Unboxings

I was SO pleased to get the January Fairyloot box. The theme for the month was ‘Mystery & Mischief ‘. I suspected that I might know the book included and, quite honestly, I couldn’t wait to read it. So armed with my Christmas money I got in there quick to get my hands on a box.

It arrived last week and actually was even better than I could’ve possibly imagined! As always, the actual unboxing is in a spoiler section below, so if you don’t want to see what was inside LOOK AWAY NOW!

Fairyloot has, once again, made me very happy!

I believe there are still a few of the February box available! The theme is ‘Emperors & Fugitives’ and you can order it here.
