Last month I posted my thoughts on Red Rising, the first book in the Red Rising trilogy (you can find that post here).  Golden Son, the second book in the series, was published last month and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. It’s fair to say that I loved it.

Since this is book two in the series I obviously don’t want to risk any spoilers for you, so this is probably going to be a rather short post.

Basically, Golden Son follows the same characters as Red Rising. The environment is different though, no more Institute, this book is more set in space and on various planets. There’s more of a sci-fi-ness (yes I just made up that word) to this book. Plenty of spaceships and technology as well as action, fighting and suspense.

One thing I love about Pierce Brown’s writing is the way he seemlessly introduces twists and turns. Honestly, there were so many twists in this book and I didn’t see any of them coming! The end… well let’s just say I cannot wait for book three, Morning Star (out January 2016).

I can’t recommend this trilogy enough. It’s brilliant. In fact I’ve got hubby reading Red Rising right now and he is loving it. I keep asking him where he is, and I can’t believe how much the characters have gone through in just two books. Who knows where Morning Star will take us; I can’t wait to find out!
